Sheep
Calling all animal friends! Do you want to give our animals a little bit of extra love? Why not think about sponsoring our sheep and lambs!
- There are over 1 billion sheep in the world, and China has the largest number of sheep in the world.
- Adult female sheep are called ewes, and adult male sheep are called rams. Young sheep are called lambs.
- A group of sheep is known as a herd, flock, or mob.
- Sheep have a field of vision of around 300 degrees. This means they can see behind themselves without having to turn their head.
- Sheep are herbivores, which means they eat vegetation (grass).
- Sheep have 4 chambers in their stomach, which helps them to break down the food they eat.
- Sheep like to stay close to others in a herd, which makes it easier to move them to new pastures altogether.
- In 1996, a sheep named Dolly was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell.
- Sheep are raised on farms for a number of products, including wool and meat.
