Accessibility statement for Newham Grange Farm website
This accessibility statement applies to www.newhamgrangefarm.co.uk.
This website is run by Middlesbrough Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen

How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- On the buy tickets page, the ARIA role is not appropriate for the element
- Not all videos used on the website have an accessible name in place
- Some videos are not using the correct ARIA attribute
- The Farm map is not accessible to all
- The Farm map zooms when hovering over it
- Some image galleries automatically move and there is no way to stop this
- In some parts of the website white text is used against a green background that doesn’t have sufficient colour contrast.
- Some image galleries have a series of circles to interact with the relevant images, these elements aren’t big enough

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Some videos in use on the website don’t have an accessible name. This may make it difficult for some users to understand the purpose of the video. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role, value).
All videos will be reviewed and accessible names added by the end of November 2025.
- The farm map is not accessible. Some users may find it difficult to navigate and understand the map. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role, value).
The farm map will be replaced with an accessible map by the end of November 2025.
- The farm map automatically zooms when hovering over it, this could make it difficult for some users to navigate the map correctly. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.2.2 (On focus).
The farm map will be replaced with an accessible map by the end of November 2025.
- There are some image galleries in place that automatically move from one photo to the next, without any way to stop the element from moving. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.2.2 (Pause, stop, hide).
All image galleries will be replaced with an accessible equivalent by the end of November 2025.
- The colour contrast of some elements where white text is used against a green background does not have a sufficient colour contrast, this may may it difficult for some users to read and understand this text. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast minimum).
The colour of text against the background colour in use will be reviewed and changed to an accessible contrast level by the end of November 2025.
- There are some image galleries in place that have a series of circles underneath to allow the user to interact and select an image. Those circle icons are not big enough which could make it difficult for some users to interact with these elements. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.5.8 (Target size minimum).
All image galleries will be replaced with an accessible equivalent by the end of November 2025.
- The buy tickets page contains and ARIA role that is not appropriate for the element in use. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1. (Name, role, value).
The correct ARIA role will be assigned by the end of November 2025.
- There are some videos in place on the website that are not using the correct ARIA attribute This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1. (Name, role, value).
The correct ARIA attribute will be added by the end of November 2025.
